ABOUT THE CLUB
Club history
Original East Burwood Cricket ClubThe original East Burwood CC was formed around 1886 according to various reports, and throughout it's history competed primarily in the BHRDCA, except for a period from 1886-1895, and a second stint in the defunct Burwood Distrct Cricket Association from 1922/23 to WWII.
The club began it's playing days on an area roughly where the current City of Whitehorse Waste Transfer Station is located on Burwood Hwy in present Vermont South. In 1906 the club played on an area on the northern side of Burwood Hwy on the corner of Mahoneys Road before settling into its current location at East Burwood Reserve in 1909

Bennettswood Cricket ClubBennettswood CC was formed as Wattle Park Presbyterians CC, and was based at Bennettswood Sports Ground adjacent to Deakin University. The earliest known mention of the club was winning the Burwood DCA B Grade premiership in 1959-60. With the collapse of the Burwood DCA, the club moved to the BHRDCA for the 1968-69 season, and changed it's name to Bennettswood for the 1977-78 season. The club was very successful in it's short history in the BHRDCA winning 4 1st XI premierships (B Grade, A Grade and 2 McIntosh Shields).

East Burwood/Bennettswood Cricket ClubAfter the 1992/93 season, East Burwood and Bennettswood merged to form East Burwood/Bennettswood CC. The clubs had been running a joint junior program for the previous two seasons, and with both clubs having declining senior player numbers and the new facilities at East Burwood Reserve it was a decision that made sense for both clubs. In August 2013 the members of the club voted to drop Bennettswood from the clubs name. The reasons for this were to simplify the name, align the club with the East Burwood FC and especially it's junior program, and to also align the club with the local East Burwood community to better attract new players and sponsors. In 2016/17 East Burwood finally won it's first McIntosh Shield as a merged club after many heart-breaking losses.
